I could see many things in each shops at Shopping Street of Sugamo Togenuki JIZO Avenue. I want to introduce some. These are “Taiyaki(鯛焼き)”,”Rice Cracker(Senbei 煎餅)” “Zouri(草履)” “Setta(雪駄)” “Geta(下駄)” “Chanchanko(ちゃんちゃんこ)” “Kanreki-costume(還暦衣装)” and “Shio-Daifuku(塩大福)”.
These are very cool Setta(雪駄) selections.
There are many kinds of Setta with wide price range. You can buy a Setta for less than 1,000 yen.
We usually wear Setta for the festivals like a Sanja Matsuri and some guys wear it as a casual footwear. It’s OK to wear it instead of Beach Sandals.
What is Setta(雪駄)?
Setta is one of the Japanese traditional footwears, which has a metal fittings in its bottom-heel part. And it’s hard to be damaged so it’s durable,
and it can withstand humidity because it’s enhancing itself waterproofing function to affix a skin to the revers of the bamboo sheath Zouri.
*You can buy a Setta in any place beside Sugamo, internet or other footwear shops.
